A floor that works well in everyday life
Near Reutlingen, Emilia Schlotterbeck has taken over a facility that was originally designed as a traditional loosebox yard with 13 looseboxes. Today, this has evolved into a concept that suits Emilia’s approach and everyday life: open stables and group housing are central to enabling her horses to live together as naturally and relaxed as possible.
There were several reasons behind her desire to have her own stables: more space, her own indoor arena – and, above all, the opportunity to take charge of the day-to-day management herself, particularly as one of her horses suffers from equine asthma.
“It was important to me that the lying area was really comfortable – and that the horses enjoyed using it.”
The trigger: the risk of slipping and keeping an eye on your joints
Emilia had been considering fitting rubber mats in the stable areas for some time, particularly with a view to improving slip resistance and providing a surface that is gentler on the joints. She was also inspired by a stable she knows well, and it was the BELMONDO® flooring solution there that ultimately won her over.

Automated mucking out becomes a breeze
In the rest of the stable , Emilia has opted for BELMONDO® Classic. It was important to her that the stable flooring was not only comfortable, but also remained practical for day-to-day use – including when using machinery.
“Clearing out works better with the mats than on the concrete floor.”
Manure removal works very well with the Hoftrac too, because it’s now rubber on rubber. Emilia was also pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the installation was.
