How Emilia’s show horses live
In Reutlingen, Emilia Schlotterbeck took over her own stable to organize housing and management herself – mindful of one horse’s equine asthma. She turned the loosebox stable into an open stable with natural group housing.
A floor that works in everyday use
Near Reutlingen, Emilia Schlotterbeck took over a facility that was originally designed as a classic loosebox stable with 13 boxes. Today, this has evolved into a concept that fits Emilia's husbandry and everyday routine: The focus is on open stables and group husbandry to give her horses a way of living together that is as natural and relaxed as possible.
The desire for her own stable had several reasons: more space, her own arena – and above all the opportunity to manage day-today routines herself, especially because one of her horses has equine asthma.
"It was important to me for the lying area to be truly comfortable – and that the horses like to use it."
The trigger: Keeping an eye on slip risk and joints
For quite some time, Emilia had been thinking about installing rubber mats in her stable areas, especially with a view to better sure-footedness and a surface that is more gentle on the joints. She was also inspired by a stable she knows well, whose BELMONDO® flooring solution ultimately convinced her.
The solution in the lying area: BELMONDO® Trend
For the lying area in the open stable, the choice fell on BELMONDO® Trend. What really matters here is a comfortable, insulating ground where horses like to settle down and relax.
Mechanical manure removal becomes child's play
In the remaining stable areas, Emilia relies on BELMONDO® Classic. It was important to her that the stable flooring not only be comfortable, but also remain practical in day-to-day routines – right down to machine work.
"Manure removal works better with the mats than on the concrete floor."
Manure removal also works very well with the yard loader, because it's now rubber on rubber. Emilia was also pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the installation was.
"Installation was straightforward. Everything was installed in a single afternoon – thanks to the practical puzzle principle."
